More shabby chic miniature dollhouse accessories and dolls

Here are some of my newest creations for the dollhouse. The first photo shows two teapots and a hat box in lovely soft pastel colours which would look great for Spring in the dollhouse. The second photo shows two 1/4 scale rabbit dolls. My inspiration for the rabbit dolls comes from childrens fairytales and Sylvanian family dollhouses which I think are just adorable. My daughter turned 3 years old just before Christmas and I bought her a starter Sylvanian dollhouse with a few dolls and furniture which she absolutely loved. The thing is I end up playing around with it more than her as it's just so cute, though the way things are going I don't think it will last long as she's so careless with the pieces and items are already getting lost or broken. I thought I'd make my own smaller scale dolls for a 1/4 scale dollhouse and change the design a little but they are still just as sweet as the Sylvanian dolls. I have put the dolls and several other new creations up for auction on my ebay account (ebay/fizzyclaret) to start tonight. Don't miss out!

Miniature Easter treats

I have been feeling very inspired by Easter over the last few days and decided to make some miniature items with an Easter theme. I came up with the above items - an Easter egg basket, a little bunny rabbit secret box, an Easter egg tree for a miniature sweet shop display and a second Easter egg basket. I mixed some lovely soft pastel colours of clay and once I'd found the colours I liked these then formed the basis of my designs. I love soft pastel colours as they remind me of sugared almonds. I've made lots more miniature items and all of them will be placed on my ebay account this weekend (eBay.co.uk/fizzyclaret).

1/4 Scale Toadstool Bedroom Set

I promised a little while back that I'd show a photo of the fairy bedroom furniture set I made as a custom order. I found this set extremely challenging and hard work as many components started to go wrong and I'd have to start again from scratch so that it started to look right. My inspiration for this set comes from the red toadstool with white spots that you often see illustrated in childrens fairytale books. I wanted to make a 1/4 scale miniature set which resembled the toadstool pattern and I also wanted to add some pieces of wood and grass to make it very fairytale like. My favourite piece is the dressing table as I love the way the little toadstools sit at the foot of the mirror.

Dollhouse shabby chic furniture appliqués 1/12th scale

Happy New Year to everyone.

A lovely lady recently contacted me and asked me to make her a miniature furniture applique that she could use on her 1/12th scale furniture. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to produce such tiny roses out of polymer clay but I had a go and they turned out lovely and the lady loved them. I hadn't thought of making miniature furniture appliques before but thought it was a great idea so I have since made some more which you can view in the photo. They can be glued onto chests of drawers, wardrobes, desks...etc the possibilities are endless and it means you can customise your own furniture in the way you want. The sizes of these appliques vary from as little as 3/8ths of an inch (0.9mm) in size to 1 & 1/8th inches (2.7cm). So far I have only used the soft pastel pinks and lilacs but I'd like to experiment with some different colours and maybe do some gothic pieces. I'd love to hear from anyone who can suggest some nice colour schemes as sometimes my imagination can become a little blank and I end up sticking to the same colour pallettes.
